Project "Assistance to Introduction of Gender Dimensions in Modern Georgian Society via Contemporary Art"

Contemporary art can play a very big role in modeling the actual processes and delivering them to the society. The entire history of modern art development is the proof of this. It first performs processing and introduction of new, progressive ideas, which later on become norm and habit of the society.

Survey of gender program via actual art in our country has no analogue until now. Ideology and strategy of the project is addressed to overcome this problem. One group of artists participating in the project is oriented towards the above mentioned problems, on the basis of which totally new works will be presented together with the old ones.

Bolnisi region is one of the selected regions of our working group.

This region has been selected by its great history and multicultural stratum of the population of Georgia that increases our interest. There are a lot of very important historical and cultural monuments and buildings such as: Sioni of Bolnisi, Bolnisi museum of local lore, Tandzia Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani Memorial-Literary Muzeum, Sameba of Kazreti etc.
 

 

Three-day long campaign art-demarches trip to Bolnisi. The designated space was used for the provision of the arrangements planned by the working group. The regional arrangements in Bolnisi region included as follows:

“Gender and Contemporary Fine Art" - Erna Dolmazova, Lia Shvelidze, Sophia Cherkezishvili, Oleg Timchenko, David Aleksidze, Murtaz Shvelidze, Maka Batiashvili, Tamar Melikishvili”.

Meetings with Georgian district organizations on variety of multicultural stratum and co-existence of population of different nation, religion, gender and culture creating unified organic multicultural space in Georgia - leader Maia Nepharidze.

“New Video-Audio Images”, exhibition of "Contemporary Georgian Poster" -Natela Grigalashvili, Zurab Natsvlishvili, Irina Kurmaeva, Guram Tsibakhashvili. Video animation (George  Shotadze) with original sound (Nika Machaidze),   Dramatic theatre of Bolnisi.

  
 

 

  
 

“Contemporary world through the eyes of woman photographer"  - Irina Abzhandadze’s master-class from the series 'Gender culture in regional studios'. Meeting with the representatives of local cultural district administration and senior pupils as well that unify the several cultural disciplines.

  

“Video-Art and New Opinion on New Media” -  “Tests for the Feature Film – Uninvited Story” (DV,12 min. Irina Abzhandadze). The debates took place after the showing.
